4 Fun Valentine’s Day Activities for Kids

Edit: This post was posted late because I am having so many issues uploading images. I wish I was better at blogging. Please continue to read as it may still give you ideas for activities to do with your kids.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, I wanted to find a few different activities to do with the kids. William is four and a half now and he understands holidays and gets excited for them now. Lily is one and is still learning how to play. William loves playing with her and teaching her how to play with her toys.

Here is a list of fun ways to celebrate Valentine’s day for kids of all ages.

Valentine’s Day Countdown

I found this cool blog post that has instructions for a Valentine’s Day Advent Calendar. Each day there is a new activity to do together as a family. There’s a lot of fun ideas in her post like making your own Valentine’s Day cards, making heart shaped pancakes and delivering Valentine’s Day treats to someone. She also has a whole round up of Valentine’s Day ideas so be sure to check out the post for some inspiration.

Valentine’s Day Door Decorations

Similar to the Valentine’s Day Advent Calendar, another great idea is to add a heart to the bedroom door with a reason why you love them. Do this everyday leading up to Valentine’s Day and you will end up with 14 hearts. Kids love seeing what we will put up next. William also helps us fill out Lily’s on why we love her. It’s a great activity to help kids understand what it means to love one another.

Valentine’s Day Treats

Valentine’s Day Breakfast

There are so many fun Valentine’s Treats out there. Pretty much anything heart-shaped, red or chocolate would work. Some fun ideas are:

  • Heart-shaped Pancakes or waffles
  • Pink smoothies
  • Heart-Shaped cookies
  • Heart-Shaped rice crispy treats
  • Chocolate-dipped strawberries
  • Cupcakes with pink icing
  • Heart-shaped grilled cheese sandwiches or quesadillas

I’ve been loving charcuterie platters and so I made a Valentine’s Day Candy Board. How cute does this look?

Practicing Kids fine motor skills

I found some fun Valentine’s Day activities that help kids practice their fine motor skills. Some you can buy from the dollar store and some you can print online for free.

  • Colouring books
  • Window Stickers
  • Homemade Valentine’s Day cards
  • Cutting out hearts
  • Drawing hearts with loose parts
  • Using stickers to outline hearts or words
  • Sensory Table

We had a lot of fun with these activities. I hope this inspires you with some Valentine’s Day activities to do with your family! And create a lot of great memories too!

Happy Valentine’s Day! xoxo
